Back in June, I did a video about the Roman Dodecahedron, and asked for ideas from the audience to help figure out what it was used for. I got some doozies. So I teamed up with Stefan Milo to consider the ideas and argue over which one’s right. Thanks to Stefan for joining, if you’re not following him, you should be!
TRANSCRIPT:
A few months back I did a video about (pull it out) the Roman Dodecahedron. It was a pretty big hit. In fact, it’s the last big hit I’ve had on this channel…
Have you checked on your favorite YouTubers lately? We’re struggling right now.
Anyway, somewhere along the line, the team and I had an idea, because we started doing merch drops this year, what if we sold a 3D printed Dodecahedron and asked you guys to help figure out what this was used for.
Because I had one made for that video, and I have to say, holding it in your hand, it changes things, it gives you ideas.
Basically, what if we crowdsourced a solution to this thing?
Well we made the video, we launched the product, and a lot of you sent back ideas for this thing.
And today, I’m going to go through the theories that viewers submitted and see if we solved the mystery… through the power of the internet. And shameless commerce.
But here’s the deal, I’m not an archeologist, I’m just a guy on YouTube. So I called in an actual archeologist… who’s also a guy on YouTube.
Today I’m going to be joined by Stefan Milo, who by the way his name is actually pronounced Meelo. Been saying it wrong this whole time.
But he sat down with me and chimed in on these theories, it was a lot of fun and I want to thank him for doing that right up top here.
So stick around while we look at some theories and ideas around this thing, and by all means tell us where we’re wrong in the comments.
Let’s dodeca-do this!
So, mine was the calendar idea, Stefan’s was the secret cult item. Who do you agree with? Which of these ideas do you think is most likely? Sound off below.
I want to thank everyone who sent in their ideas, and to everybody who bought one of these things, I hope you’re enjoying it.
Big thanks to Stefan for coming out to play. That was the first time we’ve ever met, I hope we can do it again. If you’re not following Stefan’s channel and you’re a fan of archeology, absolutely go follow him.
I asked him to join me because I’m a fan of his videos, he does great work on fascinating topics, I’ll put the link down below.
